Your information
Last updated 27 October 2026
This notice explains how I collect and use personal information through arjthiruchelvam.com and when you contact me about partnerships, speaking or media work. I keep it simple: I only collect what I need to reply to you and do the work we agree.
Who I am
The data controller is Arj Thiruchelvam, a self-employed performance coach based in Solihull, West Midlands. You can contact me about anything in this notice at arj@arjthiruchelvam.com or on 07360 272 109. I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), registration reference ZC285114.
Coaching is run through Performance Physique, which has its own privacy notice at performancephysique.co.uk. If you enquire about coaching, I’ll pass your enquiry to Performance Physique so it can reply.
What I collect
- Enquiry form: your name, email address, organisation (if you give it), the type of enquiry and your message.
- Direct contact: anything you send me by email or phone, such as your contact details and the details of your brief.
- Newsletter: your email address, if you sign up through the newsletter box or tick the newsletter option on the enquiry form.
- Agreed work: if we work together, the details needed to deliver it and invoice you, such as billing contact details.
- Technical logs: my website host automatically keeps standard server logs (your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time) to keep the site secure and working.
This site does not use cookies, analytics, advertising trackers or social media plugins. Its fonts and images are served from this site, not from third parties.
How I use it and why
- To reply to your enquiry and discuss the work you have in mind. The lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, or my legitimate interest in responding to people who contact me.
- To deliver and invoice agreed work. The lawful basis is performing our contract, and meeting my legal obligations such as keeping tax records.
- To send you my newsletter, if you sign up. The lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email.
- To keep the website secure. The lawful basis is my legitimate interest in protecting the site from misuse.
I will not add you to a mailing list unless you ask to join one, and I never sell your information.
You don’t have to give me your details, but I can’t reply to an enquiry without your name, email address and message. I don’t make any decisions about you by automated means, and I don’t profile you.
Who I share it with
I only share your information with the services I use to run my work, and only as far as they need it:
- WPX, which hosts this website.
- Web3Forms, which delivers enquiry form messages to my inbox and keeps a copy for up to 30 days.
- Mailchimp (Intuit), which sends the newsletter and stores subscribers’ email addresses.
- Google, whose Gmail service stores the emails you send me.
- An accountant, for invoices and tax records if we work together.
- Performance Physique, if your enquiry is about coaching.
Google, Mailchimp and Web3Forms may store and process information in the United States. Transfers there are covered by the UK’s data bridge with the US or by approved contract terms. If any other provider processes information outside the UK, it does so under similar safeguards.
How long I keep it
- Enquiries that don’t lead to work: deleted within 24 months of our last contact.
- Records of agreed and invoiced work: kept for at least five years after the 31 January Self Assessment deadline for the tax year they relate to, as HMRC requires.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
- Server logs: kept by my host for a short period, then deleted automatically.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information I hold about you
- ask me to correct anything that is wrong
- ask me to delete your information
- ask me to restrict or stop using it, or object to how I use it

Some of these rights only apply in certain situations. Email arj@arjthiruchelvam.com to use any of them. There is usually no charge and I will reply within one month.
Complaints
You have the right to complain to me about how I have used your information. Email arj@arjthiruchelvam.com with “Data protection complaint” in the subject line, or contact me any other way. I will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, look into it without undue delay and tell you the outcome.
